Join us for an unforgettable Solar Eclipse Weekend on April 5-8! 🌑✨ A solar eclipse happens when, at just the right moment, the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth. Immerse yourself in the cosmic wonders of nature and witness this breathtaking celestial event.

-Tyler, Texas will be a premier viewing destination.

-The 2024 eclipse will be the first total eclipse that has been visible in Tyler since 1878.

-This will be the last total eclipse of the millennium visible in Tyler

-In order to see the amazing total eclipse you MUST be in 100% totality. A 99% partial eclipse is a 0% total eclipse, and you don’t want to miss out on this amazing experience. If you’re unsure if you’ll be in the path of totality or not, you can visit this website to find your exact location.

On April 8th the heavens will align to bring a breathtaking total solar eclipse, and we’ve prepared a unique and unforgettable celebration for you to enjoy this celestial wonder.

-Downtown Business Involvement: Many of our downtown businesses will be participating in the festivities. Explore the various shops, boutiques, and restaurants that line the charming streets of downtown Tyler. Special eclipse-themed promotions, discounts, and unique offerings will be available, making this a perfect opportunity for shopping and dining.

Science Through Shadows

Science through Shadows series of short films

Science through Shadows is a NASA-funded Science Activation project about using shadows to conduct astronomy research.

Eclipse the Sun Revealed

This full-dome show covers the historical, cultural, and scientific views of solar eclipses, and gets audiences ready for the Great American Eclipse of 2024.

The Earth and Space Science center also has interactive displays for you to enjoy.

Caldwell Zoo

April 8, 2024

Park Viewing Locations

April 8 at Lindsey & Faulkner Park

Visit Tyler each spring when we celebrate the season with more than ten miles of residential gardens and historic home-sites covered with azaleas, tulips, wisteria, dogwood, and more. This annual spring event has been described as a floral wonderland and a photographer’s paradise. The Azalea & Spring Flower Trail takes place in March and April each year. Springtime in Tyler is one of the best times of the year to stroll the brick streets and enjoy the beauty of the area.

Tyler State Park

April 8
Come watch the moon completely hide the sun and the day turn to twilight! The moon’s shadow will traverse Texas from the Southwest to the Northeast and travel right over Tyler State Park! The main viewing location is the Northside Day-Use Swim Area for the best view of the sky. The best way to see the eclipse at Tyler State Park:
-Make a reservation. Reserve a Day Pass for the day and time of the eclipse. You can reserve a day pass up to one month prior to the day of your visit. We expect to reach capacity limits and your reservation guarantees entry.
-Arrive early. Traffic on the highways is expected to be heavy and lines for entry to the park may be long.
-Be prepared for delays on the roadways before and after the eclipse. Make sure to pack extra water and snacks. Make sure you have plenty of fuel, too.
-Park in designated areas only. The eclipse may cause communication problems. Cell phones, radios, and the internet may experience outages during the eclipse.

Get ready to unleash your creativity and explore the world of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Attendees can explore our maker booths, enjoy stage shows, a photo booth, face painting, food trucks, and more!

This year is extra special because of the total eclipse on Monday April 8th. The Discovery Science place will offer additional eclipse related stations to celebrate being in the path of totality. We do anticipate a larger-than-normal crowd on the weekend of April 6th, as Tyler is a tourist destination for those traveling to view the eclipse.

Broadway Square Mall

April 8, 2024

Broadway Square will be set up in the JCPenney parking lot near Broadway Ave. The area will be barricaded off to through traffic for safety. Enjoy yard games like life size chess, Connect 4, Jenga, and cornhole. We will have face painting, balloon artists, and bounce houses. Take breaks by going inside to shop and eat at Chick-Fil-A.

-Evan’s United Spring Carnival will be here April 4- 14 in the JCPenney parking lot. They will run special hours on April 8th for the Eclipse. Operation times will be 12pm- 10pm that day.

It's a Total Eclipse at Jellystone

On April 8, 2024 a solar eclipse will pass through 13 U.S. states and 4 Canadian provinces–and we’ll be right in the path of totality! Our Camp-Resort will have prime views of the eclipse and the sun will be completely blocked out for a small period of time. There won’t be another total eclipse until 2045, so be sure to visit us to check off this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
