Job Title: Visit Tyler Visitor Center and Retail Coordinator

Visit Tyler will be opening a new visitor center in downtown Tyler in October of 2020.  The Visit Tyler Visitor Center is located in the Plaza Tower Building at 110 N. College – Suite 105.  This location serves as the visitor information center and retail gift shop for the Visit Tyler offices.  Because the Visit Tyler Visitor Center is the front door to the city, this position will need an individual that is knowledgeable about the unique amenities the city has to offer.

The Visit Tyler Visitor Center and Retail Coordinator will report to the President of Visit Tyler

As the Visit Tyler Visitors Center Coordinator, this person will welcome visitors and help them create a “one of a kind” experience tailored to their unique interests and passions.   This part time position will require an individual to be positive, energetic, people-orientated and welcoming.  As the center’s coordinator, this person will have the responsibility to open the downtown visitor center from 10:00am to 3:00pm each Saturday.  They will oversee the retail gift shop and inventory management.

  • Greet guests at the Visit Tyler Visitor Center each Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm
  • Answer general questions regarding Tyler’s attractions, entertainment, art, sports, food and lodging; be friendly, genuine and knowledgeable
  • Provide request-specific information and on-the-spot research for special or unusual inquires; answer incoming telephone calls
  • Oversee gift shop, such as availability of merchandise, restocking, inventory, merchandizing, cash register, point of sale and Square sales system operations
  • Represent the Visit Tyler team with genuine customer service that provides an exceptional customer experience
  • Promote the Visitor Center and Gift Shop through Visit Tyler’s social media channels
  • Other duties assigned

Every Saturday, 10:00am to 3:00pm

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Exceptional customer service to all visitors and clients
  • Ability to learn and retain a large volume of information
  • Ability to accurately communicate information orally
  • Ability to handle cash transactions and be accountable for daily balancing
  • Ability to multi-task while remaining professional, flexible and organized
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions
  • Be able to lift and maneuver boxes weighing 10-30 pounds; use a dolly

*Retail experience preferred

*Bilingual a plus

*Social media promotional experience preferred

*Knowledge of Square sales system a plus
